TU Dortmund University mourns the loss of Prof. Gernot Nalbach

Professor of Design, Space and Media at the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering at TU Dortmund University, who passed away on November 7, 2025 at the age of 83.

As a dedicated university lecturer and long-standing member of our department, Prof. Gernot Nalbach left his mark on generations. From 1987 to 1990, he held the office of Dean and made a significant contribution to the professional and structural development of the former Department of Civil Engineering during this time. With great passion for research and teaching, he dedicated himself to the field of Design, Space and Media and made significant contributions to the further development of this subject area over many decades. We pay tribute to a highly esteemed colleague and remember him with great respect. His scientific work, his collegiality and his human integrity will remain unforgotten.
