Study Abroad Evening 2023

All information about the application and deadlines for a semester abroad can also be found in the presentation of the Study Abroad Evening.

Fancy a new experience?

Are you interested in studying at one of our numerous partner universities within or outside Europe? Or would you like to come to our faculty as an exchange student to study architecture or civil engineering in Dortmund? Here we give you an initial overview of the requirements, prerequisites, application modalities and the right contact points. We are addressing students of the Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering as well as foreign students who would like to complete part of their studies at TU Dortmund University. The application for Dortmund students is handled by the Erasmus Coordination of the department, for foreign students by the International Office. An overview of our partner universities abroad can be found here.

Information for outgoings

Applications to study abroad at one of our partner universities should be submitted via the faculty's ERASMUS Coordination Office. The following application documents must be submitted by e-mail to the International Student Office:

  • Letter of motivation
  • Curriculum vitae in tabular form with photo
  • current transcript of records
  • work samples (on DIN A4)
  • Proof(s) of language skills

The following deadlines must be observed:

  • Erasmus+: February 1st of the previous academic year
  • Overseas: December 15 of the previous academic year
  • University cooperations: usually October of the previous academic year (application via the International Office)

Further information on the application and nomination process can be found in the additional information material. Please note that the semester times at the host universities may differ from those in Germany. You should therefore check the websites of the respective host universities in good time to find out about the start and end of the semester there, as this will affect your semester here before and after your stay abroad (e.g. overlapping examination periods, transition from Bachelor's to Master's degree, etc.).

At our overseas partner universities, additional tuition fees may apply depending on the university. Please contact us or the partner university in good time to find out about the costs of an exchange.

Another possibility for an overseas exchange is offered by the ISEP program and the bilateral cooperations of our university. The selection and application for these exchange programs takes place via the International Office. The application deadline here is usually October for the next academic year. Information on TU Dortmund University's exchange programs can be found here.

Various funding options are available for your studies abroad: These are, for example, a DAAD scholarship or the Auslands-BAföG .
