By car

The campus of the Technical University of Dortmund is located near the Dortmund West highway junction, where the A45 Sauerland line crosses the B1/A40 Ruhr expressway. The Dortmund-Eichlinghofen exit on the A45 leads to Campus South, the Dortmund-Dorstfeld exit on the A40 to Campus North. The university is signposted at both exits.

Public transport

The "Dortmund Universität" S-Bahn station is located directly on the North Campus. From there, the S-Bahn line S1 runs every 20 or 30 minutes to Dortmund main station and in the opposite direction to Düsseldorf main station via Bochum, Essen and Duisburg. The university can also be reached by bus lines 445, 447 and 462. Timetable information can be found on the homepage of the Rhine-Ruhr transport association, and DSW21 also offers an interactive route network map.

The H-Bahn

The H-Bahn is one of the landmarks of TU Dortmund University. Line 1 runs every 10 minutes between Dortmund Eichlinghofen and the Technology Center via Campus South and Dortmund University S, while Line 2 runs every 5 minutes between Campus North and Campus South. It covers this route in two minutes.

By plane

From Dortmund Airport, you can take the AirportExpress to Dortmund Central Station in just over 20 minutes and from there take the S-Bahn to the university. Düsseldorf Airport, around 60 kilometers away, offers a wider range of international flight connections and can be reached directly by S-Bahn from the university station.

Domo Award

In cooperation with the Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering at TU Dortmund University, RKW Architektur + and Schüßler-Plan will be jointly presenting the Domo Award from 2024. Every year, the award honours students who have excelled in their Master's degree course as part of the "P3, Civil Engineering Structures" module, both through particularly good technical work and team-oriented working methods. The award recognizes students within the framework of the Dortmund model. This promotes the interdisciplinary training concept at TU Dortmund University in a way that is unique in Germany. The "P3" is the last project of the course to be worked on jointly by architecture and civil engineering students. It can therefore be seen as the culmination of the intellectual and constructive debate within the Dortmunder Modell. The prize money of €2,000 each is earmarked for a specific purpose and supports students in carrying out a subject-related study trip. The application phase for the Domo Award will begin in spring 2024. Further information about the process and the application will be published shortly.
