Location & approach

By car

The campus of the Technical University of Dortmund is located near the Dortmund West highway junction, where the A45 Sauerland line crosses the B1/A40 Ruhr expressway. The Dortmund-Eichlinghofen exit on the A45 leads to Campus South, the Dortmund-Dorstfeld exit on the A40 to Campus North. The university is signposted at both exits.

Public transport

The "Dortmund Universität" S-Bahn station is located directly on the North Campus. From there, the S-Bahn line S1 runs every 20 or 30 minutes to Dortmund main station and in the opposite direction to Düsseldorf main station via Bochum, Essen and Duisburg. The university can also be reached by bus lines 445, 447 and 462. Timetable information can be found on the homepage of the Rhine-Ruhr transport association, and DSW21 also offers an interactive route network map.

The H-Bahn

The H-Bahn is one of the landmarks of TU Dortmund University. Line 1 runs every 10 minutes between Dortmund Eichlinghofen and the Technology Center via Campus South and Dortmund University S, while Line 2 runs every 5 minutes between Campus North and Campus South. It covers this route in two minutes.

By plane

From Dortmund Airport, you can take the AirportExpress to Dortmund Central Station in just over 20 minutes and from there take the S-Bahn to the university. Düsseldorf Airport, around 60 kilometers away, offers a wider range of international flight connections and can be reached directly by S-Bahn from the university station.

Photo exhibition at the Baukunstarchiv NRW

Architectural photographer Detlef Podeh invites you to the exhibition and vernissage on September 5.

From 3D to 2D - The architectural photographer Detlef Podehl

Detlef Podehl transforms three-dimensional spaces into two-dimensional surface compositions; in doing so, he sets in motion the same process that has been fundamental to painting, drawing, graphics, photography and later film and video since the Renaissance: the projection of a space onto a surface. In significant surfaces, of course, that is what the artist is there for, and Detlef Podehl gives himself a special task in this respect - the surfaces are defined by form and color, clearly and precisely separated from one another. What is shown has been built beforehand; it is not always recognizable at first glance. But the soul of the building is always the reason for a picture: Detlef Podehl interprets architecture as a score and performs it in the picture like a conductor. He thus proves himself to be an artist in the medium of photography.

From September 6 to October 27, 2024, works by architectural photographer Detlef Podehl will be exhibited at the Baukunstarchiv.
