Location & approach

By car

The campus of the Technical University of Dortmund is located near the Dortmund West highway junction, where the A45 Sauerland line crosses the B1/A40 Ruhr expressway. The Dortmund-Eichlinghofen exit on the A45 leads to Campus South, the Dortmund-Dorstfeld exit on the A40 to Campus North. The university is signposted at both exits.

Public transport

The "Dortmund Universität" S-Bahn station is located directly on the North Campus. From there, the S-Bahn line S1 runs every 20 or 30 minutes to Dortmund main station and in the opposite direction to Düsseldorf main station via Bochum, Essen and Duisburg. The university can also be reached by bus lines 445, 447 and 462. Timetable information can be found on the homepage of the Rhine-Ruhr transport association, and DSW21 also offers an interactive route network map.

The H-Bahn

The H-Bahn is one of the landmarks of TU Dortmund University. Line 1 runs every 10 minutes between Dortmund Eichlinghofen and the Technology Center via Campus South and Dortmund University S, while Line 2 runs every 5 minutes between Campus North and Campus South. It covers this route in two minutes.

By plane

From Dortmund Airport, you can take the AirportExpress to Dortmund Central Station in just over 20 minutes and from there take the S-Bahn to the university. Düsseldorf Airport, around 60 kilometers away, offers a wider range of international flight connections and can be reached directly by S-Bahn from the university station.

A retrospective report on the festive event on November 8th

50 years of the Dortmund Model: ceremony and scientific symposium

On November 8, 2024, the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering at TU Dortmund University celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Dortmund Model in the St. Petri City Church. Around 300 guests from politics, science and practice took part.

Highlights of the event included welcoming speeches from NRW Minister of Construction Ina Scharrenbach and Head of Building Stefan Szuggat as well as keynote speeches from leading experts on the topics of architecture, architecture and civil engineering. The focus was on interdisciplinary collaboration and the future challenges facing the industry.

A successful evening that impressively acknowledged the innovative training concept and its importance for the future of the construction industry.
