Farewell to Detlef Podehl

The Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering is saying goodbye to our master photographer Detlef Podehl, who has played a key role in shaping our visual culture of teaching, research and the public sphere for more than 41 years.
Since joining the Department of Design and Representation (Prof. Nalbach) in 1986, he has combined technical competence with creative sensitivity as a photographer and reprographer, including managing the media laboratory and working in the IRPUD repro center of the Department of Spatial Planning.
His work has also been recognized beyond the university, in particular through exhibitions at institutions such as the Baukunstarchiv NRW and the NRW Chamber of Architects.
Detlef Podehl is exemplary of a generation of university staff whose commitment and specialist knowledge have shaped the quality of academic teaching and presentation. With a great understanding of the importance of the image in architecture, he leaves behind a lasting foundation on which the department can continue to build in the future.
We say thank you for the collaboration!
