Practical discussions on the topic of monument protection

Recently, a group of architecture students led by Dr. Oliver Karnau - lecturer at the Chair of History and Theory of Architecture at the Technical University of Dortmund - visited the listed buildings of the former St. Mark's Church in Gladbeck. As part of a detailed tour, Dr. Karnau explained the history of the church and the urban development of Gladbeck and placed the building in its historical and architectural context. The significance of the church as an outstanding example of modern sacred architecture from the 1960s and its current conversion by the city of Gladbeck were particularly emphasized. The host, Dr. Edesa Paheshti, also offered exciting insights into the current use of the building by the adult education center. The students analyzed the exterior and interior architecture of the building with great interest and professional curiosity. The visit was part of the lecture "Monument Conservation II" and served as a practical approach to the topic of monument conservation.
