The Technical University of Dortmund mourns the loss of
Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Dr.-Ing. E.h. Anton Weißenbach
January 24, 1929 - † September 21, 2025

Prof. Anton Weißenbach joined the former Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Dortmund in 1982 as Professor of Subsoil and Foundation Engineering. Until his retirement in 1994, he played a key role in shaping geotechnics in Germany for many years.

As the long-standing chairman of the "Excavations" working group of the German Society for Geotechnics and as a co-designer of central DIN standards, Prof. Weißenbach carried out pioneering work in numerous areas of geotechnics.

TU Dortmund University has lost a highly esteemed colleague and teacher.
We will honor his memory.
