Review: Summer Academy Venice
From September 9 to 20, the annual Summer Academy took place in Venice, this time hosted by the Chair of Building Construction.
Bachelor and Master students, together with students from TU Eindhoven and IUAV, worked in groups to investigate what makes the city of Venice the way we perceive it today. The focus was on understanding the transition of the medieval city into the 21st century, deliberately ignoring the superficial architectural beauty.
During the two weeks in Venice, there were also day excursions to visit a glass factory, a plasterer and social buildings in Venice.
The highlight of the event was a colloquium at which the results of the analysis were presented and discussed with criticism from Prof. Piet and Wim Eckert, Heike Hanada, Ingemar Vollenweider and Dipl.-Ing. Haike Apelt.
